21 April 2021Cruising returns...
In June and July, I was delighted to be appointed by Viking Ocean Cruises as a guest speaker on four cruises, beginning and ending in Reykjavik, entitled ICELAND'S NATURAL BEAUTY. These circumnavigated Iceland with time ashore in Reykjavik, Isafjordur, Akureyri, Seydisfjordur, Djupivogur, and Heimaey on the Westman islands. The trips felt wonderfully safe, thanks to the far-ranging Covid protection measures that Viking had instigated, including daily Covid tests using a fully specified PCR lab on the ship.
13 October 2020Sowthistle feature
I am pleased and proud to have my latest article published in the October 2020 issue of British Wildlife magazine on a rare Scottish montane plant called Alpine Blue-sowthistle (Cicerbita alpina), which I also see regularly and talk about on cruises to Norway. I take the opportunity in the article to compare land use in the mountain areas of Scotland and Norway, and draw conclusions from this about the damaging impact of our vast deer-stalking estates in Scotland.
