11 April 2019Return to Svalbard
It is getting much more difficult to visit the Svalbard Archipelago, north of Norway, because cruise ships carrying heavy fuel oil are only allowed in to the capital of Longyearbyen and the surrounding fjord of Isfjorden. For most ships that effectively means just one port of call, but Saga Cruises have come up with the clever idea for 2020 of visiting the 'ghost town' of Pyramiden and the former Soviet mining base of Barentsburg, which also lie beside Isfjorden, as well as the capital. That was too good an opportunity for us to miss, and we look forward to working with Saga again, after too long a break, on their new ship Spirit of Adventure.
The cruise, appropriately called ARCTIC EXPEDITION, sails from Dover on July 7th 2020, with stops in Stavanger and a welcome overnight to enjoy the 'Midnight Sun' in Tromsø, before the three Svalbard visits. We then return, via Mo i Rana and Bergen, to Dover on July 23rd. There's more information on my Cruise Bookings page.
13 September 2018Cruises 2020-21
The website has just been updated to cover some further exciting cruise bookings with Regent Seven Seas Cruises and Viking Ocean Cruises for 2020 and 2021. These include a cruise from Buenos Aires to Valparaiso, via Cape Horn and the Chilean Fjords, in November 2019; two cruises around Iceland in June 2020; a delightful cruise from Los Angeles to Callao (the port for Lima), via Mexico, several central American ports, Ecuador and Peru in October 2020; and a return visit to the Amazon in December 2020. Then, in January 2021, we are pleased to say we'll be joining the first three legs of the Navigate the World world cruise on board Seven Seas Mariner, from Miami to Sydney, via ports in Central and South America, the Pacific and New Zealand. Full details of all my cruises as an 'enhancement speaker' are on my Cruise Bookings page here.
