We have just heard the devastating news that All Leisure Holidays, the parent company for both Voyages of Discovery and Swan Hellenic, has gone into liquidation with immediate effect. The Swan Hellenic brand has since been bought by another company, but without Minerva, which was only leased to Swan. As a result, all advertised voyages by both companies have been cancelled, and the majority of their staff have been made redundant; the rebranded Swan Hellenic will not begin cruising again until 2018. Read the full details here.
We are shocked and deeply saddened by the news; it leaves huge holes in our future cruise schedule, but that is nothing compared to the devastation it must be causing all our friends who work on Voyager, Minerva and in the ALH office. What an appalling way to start 2017 for all of them. We send them all our deepest sympathy. We loved Voyager in particular and have travelled to amazing places on board her. Voyages of Discovery was by far our favourite cruise company to work with; we were proud to be associated with the company and were looking forward to many more trips with them in future. The failure of both companies will leave a huge hole in our lives, not just in our diaries.
We have since booked been lucky enough to book some wonderful cruises with other companie to fill the gaps, but we will sadly miss lovely old Voyager (we never entirely took to Minerva).
